The first time I heard about someone looking for jobs in Las Vegas NV was from an elementary school teacher. In my naiveté at the time—I was fresh out of college—I assumed all of Las Vegas was glitz, lights and glamour.
"An elementary school? In Las Vegas? It can't be," I said to myself. Visions of a K-5 school sign flashed in my head—a parade of lights danced around the sign, the school mascot illuminated in neon.
In my ignorance, I hadn't realized all those people that worked at the casinos needed schools for their children, a hospital when they were sick and a grocery store to pick up a gallon of milk. Then my mind raced on: People were needed to not only support the community but the other businesses that served the businesses! It's a veritable job -gold mine!
According to a study by CareerCast in 2012, the top jobs in Las Vegas are not casino industry specific.
The top Jobs in Las Vegas NV are not unlike other areas of the country:
The housing boom of the early to mid-2000s was Las Vegas' big win at the real estate jackpot—the greatest thing since Pa Ingalls drove his wagon across the Oregon Trail.
Next, as you know, with all the good booms comes a bust...
As of March 2013, Nevada's unemployment figure sat just over 11% while that of the nations hovered around 7%.

1. “Walk the strip and when someone hands you a solicitation card, give them your business card or resume in exchange.”
Better Advice: Network!
2. “Charge a couple bucks to stand guard over someone's slot machine while they go take a bio-break.”
Better Advice: Do what it takes to find a job.
3. “Give someone your drink that is desperately waiting to get wait staff. Remember they more you give, the more you receive.”
Better Advice: You get more work being interested in other people than you can by trying to get people interested in you.
